Appointments

François Joyal, Senior General Counsel at the Department of Justice Canada in Montréal, was appointed a Judge of the Federal Court. Appointments were also made today in Alberta and Ontario.

Appointments:

  • François Joyal, Senior General Counsel at the Department of Justice Canada in Montréal, was appointed a Judge of the Federal Court. Justice Joyal replaces Justice Y. Roy, who elected to become a supernumerary judge effective October 3, 2024.
  • Grace Alcaide Janicas, Inquest Counsel at the Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario – Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario in Sudbury, was appointed a Judge of the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario in Welland.
  • Eric M. Adams, Professor of Law at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, was appointed a Justice of the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta in Edmonton.
